After Romero's primary mistake, Scott Coker admits giving the veteran a five-round fight

President of Bellator exempts Cuban from blame for confusion in the duel against Phil Davis and says that main fights can follow the UFC model

Keeping an eye on the main fight of Bellator 266, held this Saturday (18), Scott Coker exempted Yoel romero of any blame for the confusion regarding the number of rounds in the duel against Phil Davis. In a press conference after the event, the organization's president said he understood the veteran's mistake, who supposedly believed that the confrontation would involve five rounds. The 'big boss' also admitted the possibility of the Cuban playing for 25 minutes in his next appointment.

“I knew he had it in his head (that it would be five rounds). I can't condemn him. He has often appeared in five-round fights, but this was a three-round fight. Maybe, in the next appointment, he will be selected for five rounds”, said Coker.

Romero's confusion may have been due to his years in the UFC. In the competitor, chaired by Dana White, all the athletes scheduled for the main fights, regardless of whether there are title disputes – or not – are arranged in a fight expected to last 25 minutes.

Still outside the mold that characterizes Ultimate, Scott, however, stated that Bellator may change its rules soon. Without saying anything, the representative spoke about the subject.

Dominated by Phil Davis During much of the fight, Romero surprised with his reaction right after the end of the third round. Visibly indignant, the athlete turned to the audience, signaling the number of rounds and declaring that he did not know the rules for the clash.
