Long considered one of the UFC's oldest divisions, the heavyweight division has recently gained a wave of new talent, including the reigning champion Francis Ngannou and the interim champion Ciryl Gane. Another name for this new generation of heavy vehicles that has been gaining a lot of attention is the Tom aspinall.On Saturday night (03), Aspinall put on another show and knocked out Serghei Spivak in the first round of the co-main fight of the UFC Las Vegas 36, achieving his fourth consecutive victory in Ultimate.

In a press conference after the event, Aspinall stated that he wants to reach the top of the category by merit, and not just driven by “hype”, and indicated Blagoy Ivanov, twelfth ranked in the division, as the ideal opponent for the next fight.
"I think so. I want to face a ranked guy. I know Serghei was ranked. I want to face guys who are close to me in the rankings. I want to deserve a shot at the belt, I don't believe in being taken there just by 'hype'. I want to face the guys above me. Blagoi Ivanov is a fight I would love to do. He's a very resilient guy, he's been there for a long time and I have a lot of respect for him. He is very very very tough. I want to see how my strength and speed stack up against someone like him,” Aspinall said.

“I need a lot more experience before facing these guys. I'm not ready for them yet. That doesn't mean I'm not confident, it means I'm very confident in my abilities, but I also know that I need to be ready to beat these guys. I have no hurry. I just turned 28 and I have ten more to go. You better get used to seeing me around, because I’m not going anywhere”, concluded the Brit.
