Opponent of Darren till In the main fight, the veteran is confident that a convincing victory could put him on the radar for a challenge to the middleweight champion (up to 83,9kg).

“Till has a household name. So, I feel that a victory over him, especially if it's by knockout or submission, could put me in line for a title shot after the fight between Israel adesanya and the Robert whittaker (which does not yet have a set date)”, said Brunson, in an interview with ‘Combate’.
Despite the high expectations for a convincing performance, Derek knows that, on the other side, he will have a quality rival. Thus, the veteran tried to praise his rival's recent record, but sees an advantage in the marriage of styles.
“In the two fights that Till had at middleweight, I think he did very well. He faced the Robert whittaker, took him down, it was a very even fight, with great striking. I think he's adjusting well to the category. (…) I think my style matches Till's very well, whether standing or on the ground. I like my chances (laughs). I like where I am now as a fighter. It’s all about fighting smart, taking it slow, finding the openings and ending the fight,” he concluded.
In the UFC since 2012, Brunson is having a great time within the organization. Current number four in the group led by Israel adesanya, the veteran has four consecutive victories. In his last commitment (March this season), the 37-year-old fighter overcame Kevin holland, by points.
