Junior Cigano opens the door to challenges in boxing, but says there is a 'lack of courageous heavyweights'

The former UFC heavyweight champion analyzes proposals to continue his career after being released by Ultimate

Former UFC heavyweight champion, Junior Gypsy could be another fighter to migrate from MMA to boxing, a move that has been made by many athletes, such as Anderson Silva e Vitor belfort.

In an interview with the North American website MMAJunkie.com, Cigano, who was in the audience at the PFL event held last Friday (27), revealed that he is analyzing proposals from different MMA, bare-knuckle boxing and boxing organizations.

“We are talking to bare-knuckle (BKFC), Bellator, PFL and boxing too. I would love to do a boxing match, but it's hard to find heavyweights brave enough to take the fight. These guys just talk, but let’s see what happens”, revealed Cigano.

Junior Gypsy he was released by the UFC in March of this year. The former champion has not fought since December 2020, when he was knocked out by Cyryl Gane, now interim Ultimate champion. The Brazilian lost the last four times he entered action and hasn't won since March 2019, when he knocked out Derrick Lewis. Despite the downtime, Cigano is in no rush to define his future.

“I'm not in a hurry. I am enjoying my time and as soon as we have a good deal, we will move on. My next step is an important one, so I don't want to rush it. I want to do it the right way”, explained the Brazilian.
