Brazilian party on the preliminary card of UFC Combate 2, an event held this Saturday night (18), in Jaraguá do Sul, Santa Catarina. With seven fights involving Brazilians against foreigners, Tupiniquin athletes won six contests. Highlights include Fábio Maldonado's victory against Roger Hollett and the submissions of Gleison Tibau and Francisco Massaranduba.
The only Brazilian defeat on the preliminary card was Hacran Diaz, who fought a great battle against Nik lentz. After suffering from the North American's tactical play in the first two rounds, Hacran still managed a good recovery in the third round and got the crowd going. Even so, he ended up defeated in a unanimous decision by the judges.

Francisco Massaranduba he didn't take notice of Mike Rio. Despite the North American being specialized in the takedown game, it was the Brazilian who took the fight to the ground. With a sensational fall, the participant in the first edition of TUF Brasil lifted Rio and threw his rival to the ground in a sensational way.

Tibau passes John Cholish
Considered one of the main Brazilian lightweights in the UFC, Gleison Tibau showed that the defeat he suffered against Evan dunham at UFC 156, in his last fight, he is part of the past. Aggressive from the first minute of the fight, Tibau showed versatility to dominate John Cholish.
Tibau started the contest working with boxing strikes, but soon took the fight to the ground. However, the North American managed to get up and return to the fight on his feet. Even so, Gleison continued to control the shares.
In the second round, Tibau came back even better. He tried to land a flying knee in the first moments and got the crowd going. After a good exchange between the athletes, the Brazilian landed a direct hit on Cholish that he felt. Tibau went up, took down his opponent, landed a good guillotine choke and finished the fight.
P. Thiago beats Tractor in police duel
In the duel between Paulo thiago, a BOPE police officer from Brasília, and Michel Trator, a Special Forces officer from Belém, the best representative of the Federal District. In a balanced duel, Paulo thiago managed to escape Trator's initial momentum and won the fight with a unanimous decision from the judges.
Trator started trying to set a blistering pace at the beginning of the fight. Mixing high kicks with takedown attempts, Michel worked from a short distance and reduced the damage he had to his wingspan in the face of Paulo thiago.
However, the BOPE police officer came back better in the second half. In the first minute Paulo thiago managed a knockdown with a high kick and worked on top for most of the period. But when he tried to get to his opponent's back, Trator got up and the fight returned to striking.
With the fight balanced, the third round would be responsible for defining the winner of the fight. The fight took place during the last even split, but with 30 seconds left, Paulo thiago managed a takedown and finished the fight on top, throwing several punches at Michel. The action was decisive for the decision of the side judges.

Maldonado beats Hollett and hopes for the UFC
Pressured for a victory and at risk of being fired, Fábio Maldonado fought a tough fight against Roger Hollett, but managed to leave the octagon with the victory. The Canadian started the fight better and took down the Brazilian on two occasions.
Still trying to find his footing in the fight, Maldonado suffered a scare halfway through the first round. Hollett tried a round kick, but the blow didn't go high enough and hit the Brazilian's genitals. After using the five minutes of recovery he was entitled to, Maldonado returned to the duel willing to reverse his rival's advantage.
In the second round, the Brazilian took advantage of Hollett trying to tie up the fight in the clinch and threw several short punches to the waistline. His rival felt the attack and the Brazilian took advantage of the moment to open up an advantage in the final.
With better physical preparation, Maldonado maintained his good momentum in the third round. The Brazilian put his boxing into action and worked with several punches to the body and face of Roger Hollett, who, already tired, was unable to respond. At the end of the fight, Maldonado still managed a takedown and ended the fight on top.

Mineiro opens event with victory
First Brazilian to climb into the octagon, lucas mineiro raised the audience present at Arena Jaraguá. Facing Jeremy Larsen, the athlete from Chute Boxe de São Paulo started at a disadvantage, suffering from boxing counterattacks and falls from the North American. But after being disadvantaged in the first half, Lucas ended the race in a sensational way.
At the beginning of the third round, Larsen launched a series of punches, but when the American was moving forward, Mineiro threw a direct punch and knocked his rival out.
“I came here to give a show to Brazil! I knew he would want to punch me to try to put me down, so I trained a lot in boxing. You will still hear a lot about me, lucas mineiro”, said the Brazilian.
