the fight against José Aldo No. UFC 265, on the 7th, may have been the last of Peter Munhoz in the bantamweight division (up to 61,2 kg) of the UFC. After the defeat to his compatriot, the São Paulo native admitted the possibility of moving down to flyweight (up to 56,7 kg).

The revelation of the possible change of division was made by Peter Munhoz in an interview with the Ag. Fight website. The 34-year-old from São Paulo admitted that the executioner's trajectory José Aldo, who reigned for many years at featherweight before venturing into bantamweight, served as inspiration for the idea.

“It was something that after the fight I analyzed due to the fact that Aldo had fought for a long time in the featherweight division, with a professional team behind him, and he did a great job. He maintained his explosiveness and strength, but he dropped well and the most important fact is that the recovery was good. This made me think about this possibility (of moving down a category). I want to see what the next steps will be, who will offer me, but it’s a possibility that I won’t rule out”, revealed Munhoz.

The change of category, however, will not necessarily be done immediately. The American Top Team athlete explained that he can still have one or two more fights in the bantamweight division before moving to the flyweight division.

PUBLICITY:

“I always had a calm period of time to compete at bantamweight, so if I were to move down to flyweight, this diet period would be longer and more regulated, which is fine for me. There comes a time when we need to chart a new path, so there is (that chance). I don't know if it will be in the next (fight) or in two. But I think so”, he concluded.
