Alexander Gustafson will have to wait to return to the light heavyweight division (up to 93kg.). Former challenger for the category title, Swede was injured and was forced to withdraw from the fight against Paul Craig, which was scheduled to take place in UFC Las Vegas 36, on September 4th. The information was released first-hand by the North American website 'MMA Junkie'.

Despite Gustafsson's departure, Craig's participation must be confirmed on the card. The athlete, however, still does not have a confirmed opponent who will accept to participate in the event, taking the lead in the fight in two weeks. Another alternative is to reschedule the initial fight at a later date, in case Alexander has a brief recovery.
Even though he is not ranked in the division, Alexander has a notable victory against the current champion of the category, Jan Blachowicz. He has also defeated Glover Teixeira and fought evenly against the Jon Jones. Even so, the Swede is going through a negative phase, with three victories in a row.
On the other hand, Craig is experiencing one of his best moments in Ultimate. At 33 years old, the Scot has won three of his last five fights in the organization. In his career, there are 15 positive results, four negative results and one draw.
In his last appearance, valid in the heavyweight category, Alexander came out of retirement and was submitted by Fabricio Werdum, UFC Fight Island 3. In his career, there are 18 triumphs and seven setbacks in his career.
Paul occupies 12th place in the light heavyweight rankings and, in his last duel, submitted Jamahal hill with a key, which ended in the North American's broken arm.
