A UFC athlete was fined 50 thousand dollars (around R$ 100 thousand) for refusing to attend a press appointment this Tuesday (07). Most likely, the name of the bad boy Nick Diaz crossed his mind as the main “suspect”. However, the athlete warned was the Brazilian Anderson Silva, as reported by the president of Ultimate, Dana White, to the newspaper USA Today.

“We had a whole media day ready for him in Los Angeles, and he just decided he doesn't want to do that. So, he is being fined US$50,” White told the American newspaper. The director also highlighted that the commitment, which is part of the UFC 162 promotional agenda, is included in Spider's contract with the organization.

Anderson Silva, who was in the United States, preferred to return to Brazil rather than attend the meeting with journalists in California. Furthermore, the champion was expected to participate in radio and television programs on the North American west coast this Tuesday.

Middleweight champion since 2006, Anderson puts his title on the line for the eleventh time against Chris Weidman, at UFC 162. The event is scheduled to take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, in Las Vegas (USA), on July 6th.
