Michael chiesa entered the Octagon UFC 265 last Saturday (7) to face the Brazilian Vincent Luque packed with four victories. At one point in the first round, with a rear naked choke in place, it looked like the North American would win his fifth consecutive victory. However, the Brazilian managed to survive and turn the fight around, winning by submission in the first round.

Shortly after the defeat, Chiesa published a text on his official Instagram profile praising and congratulating Luque on his performance, but saying he was embarrassed by the result and admitting that he succumbed to the pressure.
“I want to talk about this soon. First of all, congratulations to Vincent Luque. He is a cold killer and a very kind guy. I'm looking forward to seeing what comes next for him. It was an honor to share the Octagon with him. To say I'm embarrassed is an understatement. Physically I was in the best shape of my life, mentally I was battling with myself every day. I put a lot of pressure on myself for this fight and I succumbed,” said the American.
The last defeat of Michael chiesa before being finalized by Vincent Luque had occurred in July 2018, when he lost to Anthony Pettis, also by completion. The champion of the fifteenth edition of The Ultimate Fighter guaranteed that, just like the other times he was defeated, he will come back stronger.
“Historically, looking at my career, every time I faced adversity and ended up losing, I turned it around and evolved tremendously. A few wins and I'll be back in the cake. The goal remains the same, my belief remains strong and I love each person who supports me so much that it hurts”, concluded Chiesa.
