Doctor rules out fracture in Jon Jones and says champion will be free to fight in two months

Robert Klapper says he just dislocated his right big toe and Jones will be able to train in six weeks

Jones-fingerthe american Jon Jones should be cleared to return to the octagon sooner than expected. After the light heavyweight champion suffered a toe injury during his fight against Chael Sonnen at UFC 159, an event held last Saturday, he could have to undergo long treatment before returning to activities. However, the doctor who treated the fighter scheduled the champion's return for the first half of the year.

According to Robert Klapper, chief of orthopedics at Cedars-Sinai Hospital, Jones will be cleared to fight in less than two months. The doctor stated that the light heavyweight belt holder did not suffer a broken limb, but only dislocated the big toe on his right foot.

“Rehabilitation consists of putting the finger in place and realigning it, since there was no fracture, but rather a dislocation. In six weeks the injury will be healed and, from that moment on, physiotherapy begins to recover range of movements and strengthen the muscles around the area. He will be ready to fight in a maximum of eight weeks”, revealed the doctor, in an interview with the “UFC Tonight” program.
