Since relinquishing the light heavyweight belt and beginning the process of physical evolution to move up the division, Jon has been in a real soap opera with Ultimate. Amid controversies involving better payment conditions, the fighter is experiencing a real hiatus in his career.

At the beginning of 2021, 'Bones' got into a real battle with the UFC management. The athlete and Dana White publicly exchanged barbs and postponed the American's return to the Octagon.

Initially, the fighter was considered a favorite to fight for the heavyweight belt against the winner of Stipe Miocic e Francis Ngannou. After the French-Cameroonian's triumph, the tone of Ultimate changed and Jones ended up losing ground.

With the publication, Jon completely rules out a return to MMA this season. It is not yet known when and against whom the athlete will return to action.
