Fight against Brazilian

In Ultimate since 2014, Pedro is one of the most experienced athletes in the top 15 in the category. On Saturday, however, the athlete will face an opponent from his country for the second time wearing the organization's gloves. The Brazilian, however, spoke about how he views the situation.

“The sport today has evolved a lot on a global level. MMA is an individual sport, not a group sport. Because of this fact, it means that we would face a person who is from our country. I've lived in the United States for a long time and, here, we always have Americans fighting with Americans. This takes some of the focus away from fighting against people of the same citizenship. Aldo is Brazilian, I'm Brazilian too. He represents his team and here too. (…) I see it as any other fight,” he said.

At the weekend, Pedro will face one of the biggest names in the history of Brazilian MMA. The bantamweight then spoke about the feeling of having a confirmed fight against the man from Manaus who, for many, is a featherweight legend (up to 65,7kg).

“It was something that made me very excited, due to the fact that Aldo is a legend of the sport, a huge reference for everyone. The feeling of being able to face the José Aldo”, he admitted.

Fight analysis

With the dream of fighting for the bantamweight belt, Munhoz knows he won't have an easy life in the UFC 265. The combatant then left his analysis of the confrontation, which promises to be one of the most exciting of the show.

“It reaches a certain level in the sport where there are not many physical, technical or tactical errors. It's more his style with my style, who will be able to impose it better. In fighting, there are other requirements. An incoming blow. We have to make the best of it. Today, at the level of the fighters, especially Aldo, we don't work with a single point of error. It’s style for style and taking advantage of every situation in the fight,” he said.

Show for the belt

Knowing the dangers he will be exposed to at the event, Pedro understands that a great performance in front of a sports legend could lead him to great proposals in the future. Asked what a victory over José could promote, Munhoz did not hesitate and said he was thinking big.

Dream ending

To make history and regain a position in the top 5 of the category, Pedro was simple and objective when discussing the ideal outcome for the co-main fight. For the Brazilian, the triumph, to score, must happen on the fast track.

“A knockout”, he declared.

Athletes' history

At 34 years old, Munhoz is heading towards his 23rd fight as a professional in MMA. Today, the São Paulo native has 19 wins, five losses and one 'no contest'. Pedro, currently, is ranked No. XNUMX in the roosters.
