Pointed out, by many, as one of the great Brazilian expectations in the welterweight division (up to 77kg.), Vincent Luque prepare to face Michael chiesa on the main card of UFC 265 this Saturday (7). In interview exclusive to the SUPER LUTAS channel on YouTube, the Tupiniquim representative preaches respect for the North American and promises that he will try to keep the fight going.

“I think (Michael) Chiesa is a very tough opponent. He is coming off four consecutive victories – one of which was against the former champion Rafael dos Anjos, who is one of the toughest fighters in the UFC. Chiesa is a guy who has already proven that he has the ability to perform at this high level. And it's a very clear game, since he's a ground guy and I'm a striker, so it's going to be that challenge. I'll try to keep the fight standing the entire time and he'll want to put me down. I don't know if it was from the beginning, but at some point in the fight he'll want to do that. I trained a lot for this. I'm known for my striking and I can also end up surprising. He’s a tough opponent, you can’t underestimate him and I need to be in good shape to get a big win,” said Chiesa.
With high expectations among most fans, the fight between Vincent Luque e Michael chiesa is considered a possible 'Fight of the Night'. Asked about the topic, the Brasilia native also believes that the status can be confirmed and analyzes the technical fit.
“I believe we can have a 'Fight of the Night', mainly because of my style. I always go to end the fight and I don't like to leave it in the hands of the judges. If I have the opportunity to knockout or submit, I'll try to do it. I think this makes the fight more exciting. I'm an aggressive guy who goes inside and he's a guy who puts up a lot of resistance and doesn't give up easily. This could end up in a 'Fight of the Night' and, for me, it will be excellent if that happens”, added the fighter.
BEST VERSION?
With a streak of nine wins in his last ten fights, Vicente occupies sixth place in the welterweight category (up to 77kg). The fighter, however, highlights his psychological and technical evolution, in addition to believing that he can present his best version in the duel against Chiesa.
"No doubt. I've been evolving a lot with each fight. Win or lose, I always try to see what I can improve and evolve. Now, at this campsite, it has been no different, as I have learned several new things. I think I have evolved physically and technically. So, I believe I will be able to show it on Saturday night and win another victory. Everyone will be able to see this evolution,” he said.
PREDICTION FOR USMAN X COVINGTON
Among the top six, Vincent Luque is the only one who comes from a series of victories and has not yet faced Kamaru Usman for the division title. He analyzed the rematch between the Nigerian and Colby covington, in addition to betting on a new triumph for the welterweight champion (up to 77kg.).
“The favorite, in my opinion, would be Kamaru. He showed, in the first fight, that he has better striking and hits harder. Colby has good striking, but he doesn't have that knockout power. And since that fight I've seen a lot of evolution in Kamaru in boxing and I think that will be a difference. I think the two are a very similar style and I would face either one. I believe that Kamaru is the toughest and I would like to fight Kamaru, because for me he is the best at 77kg. (welterweight) of the moment. So, for me, the biggest challenge is Kamaru. So, I would like to face him”, said the Brasilia native.
MESSAGE TO FANS
Aware of the support from most fans, Luque also took the opportunity to send a message to Brazilians. He promises a 'great fight' and wants to repay all the affection with a good performance on Saturday.
“Always thank the fans, because for me it is an immense motivation to know that the fans are following me, watching my fight. And Saturday night they can expect retribution for that. So, I'm going there to have a great fight, with a lot of action and, God willing, bring a victory to Brazil”, he concluded.
Vincent Luque e Michael chiesa face each other on the main card of UFC 265, this Saturday (7), in Houston (USA). The main fight of the event features a dispute for the interim heavyweight belt (up to 120,2 kg) between Derrick Lewis e Cyryl Gane.
