Rory MacDonald says he's open to returning to UFC for 'fair value'

Former challenger for the UFC welterweight (up to 77 kg) belt and considered one of the most exciting fighters in the division, Rory McDonald does not close the door on a possible return to the UFC.

In an interview with the LowKickMMA website, the Canadian, who currently competes for the PFL, stated that he would like to one day return to the UFC octagon, but only if it was for the right amount of money.

“It would be interesting to go back there. It would be nice. All eyes and all attention are there, it's the big stage. But if I were to return, it would have to be for a fair price. I fought in the UFC for a long time and I understand how it works, but at this point in my career I'm also fighting for my family's future. This is very important to me”, explained the “Red King”.

Rory McDonald he debuted in Ultimate in 2010, undefeated in his career. In his Octagon debut, at UFC 115, he ended up defeated by Carlos Condit, but he had the fight of the night. Afterwards, however, he swept through the welterweight division, defeating the likes of B.J. Penn, Nate diaz, Jake ellenberger, Demian Maia e Tyron woodley, but ended up leaving the organization after consecutive losses to Robbie Lawler, in contention for the title, and Stephen Thompson.

After leaving the UFC, Rory became Bellator champion and currently competes in the Professional Fighters League. On August 13th, he faces Ray Cooper III in the semifinals of the welterweight tournament in one of the organization's most anticipated fights.

“I knew that eventually our paths would cross. I felt it was inevitable. He's a very exciting guy who the PFL has been promoting well. And obviously they also promote me a lot. So I think this was already foreseen”, he analyzed.

PUBLICITY:

It will be the third fight Rory McDonald by PFL. The Canadian won his debut against Curtis Millender, but ended up defeated by Brazilian Gleison Tibau in June this year.
