UFC 159: Roy Nelson knocks out Cheick Kongo and Vinny Pezão loses to Davis

Chubby Roy NelsonThe long-awaited duel between Jon Jones e Chael Sonnen is the main attraction of UFC 159, an event that takes place this Saturday (27), in Newark, in the United States. However, fights marked by great rivalries preceded the title fight. The fight program featured another good women's fight, a spectacular knockout of Roy Nelson and the settlement of disagreements between Michael Bisping before Alan belcher and Vinny Pezão with Phil Davis.

With a finger in the eye, Bisping beats Belcher

The American went to the ground and doctors entered the octagon to examine Alan. With no conditions for a fight, the central referee ended the dispute. As two of the three rounds had already passed, the judges marked the cards and Michael Bisping won the contest by unanimous decision of the judges (30×27, 30×27, 29×28)

Roy Nelson erase Cheick Kongo

With the right to show, the “chubby” Roy Nelson roused the audience at the Prudential Center to watch UFC 159. Facing Frenchman Cheick Kongo, the North American soon closed the gap and tried to take the fight to the ground. But, after failing, Nelson achieved the knockout in sensational fashion.

With a smaller reach, Roy entered with a right blow that hit Kongo's chin, which was the knockdown. Without wasting time, he landed just one more punch and knocked out the French athlete in the first round.

Pezão is not found and loses to Phil Davis

Brazilian Vinny Pezão did not hide his desire to face the Phil Davis in the octagon. However, the Brazilian athlete was unable to impose his game and ended up dominated by the North American. Pezão even started the contest well, working with kicks to Davis' thigh, but the American soon found himself in the fight and began to control the distance.

In the first round, Vinny even managed a takedown and reached his rival's back, however, he lost the position when he tried to lock in an armbar. In the following assaults, the panorama was similar. Davis controlled the fight on his feet, avoiding the Brazilian's ground game, who already looked tired.

Unable to find his footing in the fight, Pezão needed to take a risk in the last round. However, already tired, Pezão just tried to throw himself on the ground, calling his rival to guard. But, with the duel under control, Davis just asked the Brazilian to get up.

At the end of three rounds, victory for Phil Davis in the unanimous decision of the judges (30×27, 29×28, 30×27).

Sara McMann beats Sheila Gaff on preliminary card

Women reached the final in the UFC. After great female fights, Sara McMann and Sheila Gaff did not disappoint the public and were the highlight of the preliminary card.

In the first moves, the German Gaff went all out on her rival, but ended up being surprised and was immediately placed on the ground. From there, Sara McMann broke loose in combat. The fighter, who is a former Olympic and Pan-American athlete, showed all her skills in the ground fight.

Quick on the trigger, she trapped Gaff's arms and began throwing blows until the referee ended the dispute and declared a technical knockout in the first round.
