the attitude of Conor McGregor when ironizing the death of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, Khabib's father, it was not well received by the MMA community. Personal friend of the former lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg.), Daniel Cormier condemned the action of the Irishman, who made a publication – and subsequently deleted it – mocking the death of the Russian legend's mentor. Sensitized by the situation, DC said he called 'Águia' after the incident.

“When you're dealing with death, Covid-19 and all these other situations that we've been in since last year, that's all off limits,” Cormier said, on his show 'DC & RC'.

Khabib's partner at the 'American Kickboxing Academy' (AKA), Daniel closely followed the entire rivalry surrounding the Russian and the Irishman, who faced each other at UFC 229, in 2018. Living with Nurmagomedov on a daily basis, DC has the property to translate how offensive it is to exploit the death of the father of the former lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg.) in an attempt to attract the fighter in some way.

“We talk about wives and family as crossing the line, but we are talking about the most important thing for a man. Khabib's father was everything to him. It's about him not being here anymore, something that was terrible for our world and you use that to retort?” asked the commentator.

When it says 'retort', DC is referring to a publication made by Khabib shortly after the serious injury suffered by McGregor in the UFC 264. On that occasion, the Russian went to Twitter and, besides Congratulating Dustin Poirier on his victory, he wrote that 'good overcomes evil'.

About 20 days after Nurmagomedov's provocation, McGregor decided to respond to his old enemy. The 'Notorious', however, sustained his retaliation in the death of Abdulmanap, who died in July last season, a victim of complications from Covid-19. One year after the coach's death, Conor wrote 'Covid is good and dad is evil?'. Afterwards, the Irishman deleted the publication.

With the damage done, Cormier didn't think twice and decided to call Khabib to comfort his friend. For the former double Ultimate champion, Conor's attitude was premeditated and not out of impulse.

“This didn’t happen a day after the fight (UFC 264) or on the same night. It happened weeks later. So, it seems like it was thought out. (…) This went so far as to make me immediately call Khabib and ask if he was okay”, said Daniel.

Finally, Cormier criticized those who support McGregor's way of trying to promote his shows. DC also says he understands that the Irishman is not having a good time and insinuates that the Irishman is not in his normal state of mind.

“When Conor does things like this, it's hard to understand how there are so many people who support this type of behavior. I think that these attitudes, that being said, are a cry for help”, he concluded.

UFC legend, Khabib submitted McGregor in the fight that, to this day, is the most profitable in the history of MMA. After beating the Irishman, the Russian returned to the octagon on two more occasions, winning Dustin poirier e Justin gaethje, for the unification of the lightweight title.

After his last triumph, in October last season, Nurmagomedov confirmed his retirement from the sport, motivated by the death of his father. Since then, the former champion has tried to follow in Abdulmanap's footsteps and has stood out in his career as a coach.
