During the last week, Nate diaz made some statements in which he demonstrated his desire to move up to the welterweight category after his fight against Josh thomson, at UFC on FOX 7, held last Saturday (20). However, after suffering the first knockout of his career in this fight, the plans of his younger brother Nick Diaz may not materialize. In an interview after the event, UFC president Dana White said he did not want the former lightweight title challenger in the top division.

“I think going to the 77 kg category is a big mistake,” said the director. “There are strong, big guys at welterweight. He can stay at lightweight. Look what happened tonight at lightweight,” added White, who also commented on the problems faced by Diaz at the weigh-in. The president explained that there were no problems with the fighter's weight, but rather with the digital scale used.
