Although one of the biggest rivalries in the welterweight division (up to 77kg.) in Ultimate is 'Colby covington x Kamaru Usman', a disagreement outside the octagon has made headlines in the world of MMA. After learning of the insinuation from Ali Abdelaziz, the champion's manager, in which he suggested a title fight Nate diaz, 'Chaos' took the floor and fired at the agent, with whom he has been exchanging barbs for some time.
“Fake news. (…) He (Ali) keeps creating false narratives and thinks people will believe them. Usman cannot escape this beating and deep down, he knows it. Although the exchange of barbs between Colby and Abdelaziz makes news in the press, the North American's will may soon be confirmed. President of Ultimate, Dana White does not hide his desire to re-edit the rematch between the welterweights, who promoted one of the best fights of 2019.
Today, Covington leads the category ranking, behind only the champion. To become the company's favorite challenger, the athlete had to overcome the group's former leader, Tyron woodley.
While Colby held a confrontation after his loss to Usman, the champion remained active in the company. Since UFC 245, Kamaru entered the Octagon on three occasions, overcoming Jorge masvidal (2020 and 2021) and Gilbert Durinho.
