“Khabib told me that the plan to Islam makhachev is to take one more fight until the end of the season, finish, and be named 'Fighter of the Year'. He has two wins (in 2021), with two submissions, so far”, said the Russian, in an interview with Brett Okamoto, from 'ESPN'.

Retired from MMA undefeated, with 29 wins, Khabib never hid his admiration for Makhachev. Even before abandoning the sport, the former champion stated that his pupil would reach the top of the division and eventually take over the throne.
