Under the eyes of Khabib, Islam Makhachev submits Thiago Moisés in the main fight of UFC Las Vegas 31

With Khabib Nurmagomedov in the corner, Islam makhachev claimed another victim. In the main fight of UFC Las Vegas 31, held this Saturday (17), the Russian confirmed his favoritism and finished Thiago Moses with a rear naked choke in the fourth round. Now, he should get closer to the top-5 in the lightweight division (up to 70,3kg.).

At 29 years old, Makhachev achieved his 20th career triumph. He now has an eight-fight winning streak and should move up in the lightweight division.

Professional in MMA since 2012, Moisés encountered his fifth setback as a professional. He also has 15 triumphs. Previously, the Brazilian had achieved three positive results in a row.

THE FIGHT

Right at the beginning, Islam makhachev cornered Thiago Moses on the grid. Even so, the Russian made little attempt to work on short-range strikes. With a disadvantage in his wingspan, the Brazilian surprised and reversed the situation, putting his opponent under the cage. On the way out, Makhachev connected with a good cross and placed good knees on the waist line. Then he 'belted' and overthrew Moses. Islam even had the opportunity to apply elbows to Thiago's guard before the bell sounded.

In the second round, Thiago Moses came to surprise Islam makhachev with a grip reversal on the fence and a fall. The Russian, however, managed to 'sweep' it, fell on top and got stuck on the Brazilian's back. Makhachev continued hammering his opponent and, with 30 seconds left in the round, he went to the back and 'locked the lock'. He still had time to go to mount, but he was unable to finish the Brazilian.

The third round was marked by a dominance of Islam makhachev, who returned to corner and 'hurt' Thiago Moses with a combination of uppercuts and crosses. The Brazilian, on the other hand, preferred to hold on and tried to hold his opponent against the cage. In the final stretch, the Russian managed to free himself from an attempted heel hook applied by the 'ATT' athlete (American Top Team).

And finally, victory came to Makhachev. The Russian was willing to define the fight and managed to make progress against Thiago Moses. Safe and taking advantage of the Brazilian's fatigue, the Russian fell and made the transition to his back. With an advantage, he took the rear naked choke and saw his opponent give the 'three slaps'.

CHALLENGE RAFAEL DOS ANJOS

And do not stop there. Still in the octagon, Islam makhachev took the opportunity to challenge Rafael Dos Anjos for a fight. The Russian already had a fight scheduled against the Brazilian, but had to withdraw after suffering from a Staphylococcal infection. 

“Why do all these guys run? Nobody wants to take this fight. Give me the answer. One more thing, I took this fight against (Rafael dos Anjos) before two weeks and now I'm going to give him three or four months (for him to prepare). Lets do this. You can run, but you can't hide. I am arriving. I’m here,” said Makhachev, still in the octagon.
