Poirier avoids setting a date to face Do Bronx, but reinforces his admiration for the champion

After passing through once again Conor McGregor, Dustin poirier may have stamped his passport for another lightweight title fight (up to 70,3kg). After the tragic end to the trilogy with the Irishman, which ended with a fracture in the opponent's ankle, in the UFC 264, on Saturday (10), the North American understands that the next step is to face Charles of the Bronx. Respectfully, the 'Diamante' once again reinforced his admiration for the São Paulo native and spoke about the champion at the press conference after the show.

“He (Do Bronx) is not just any guy who happens to have a belt. He's a guy who has evolved, faced adversity in two weight divisions. He's been in the UFC for 10 years. He deserved everything he achieved and I have a lot of respect for people like that,” Poirier said.

The praise didn't stop there. An admirer of Charles's career in Ultimate, the American guaranteed that athletes like the Brazilian, over time, learned to deal with adversity.

“I don’t know him personally, but his story, I can’t hate what he did at all. It's incredible. Is very difficult. (…) You learn a lot about yourself from defeats. Then, climb to the top, motivate yourself. That’s how you discover you’re a real fighter”, he concluded.

Lightweight champion since May, Do Bronx was present at the T-Mobile Arena to watch the main fight. The athlete closely followed his potential challengers for his first title defense.
