The traumatic end of the main struggle of UFC 264 could promote a new chapter in the rivalry between Dustin poirier e Conor McGregor. After closely watching the Irishman's serious injury in the final seconds of the first round, which determined the end of the duel, Ultimate's president, Dana White, stated that a fourth clash is necessary. At the press conference after the show, the president spoke about the subject.

“The fight is not over. You can't have a confrontation ending like that. Let's see how things will turn out. Who knows how long McGregor will be out. Poirier will continue as normal until Conor is ready”, said White.
The meeting between McGregor and Poirier should mark the end of a rivalry that began in 2014. With a victory for each side, this weekend's duel would end the disputes between the athletes.
In the fight, Conor started out more aggressive, but soon began to succumb to Poirier's precise and clean strikes. The historic incident, however, ended up happening after McGregor almost suffered a knockout. The Irishman managed to get up and, when trying to land a direct hit, he ended up twisting and fracturing his left ankle.
It is not yet known how long it will take for the 'Notório' to fully recover. The athlete, however, still in the octagon, made a point of ensuring that he will not abandon the sport.
