Even after defeating Conor McGregor for the second time in 2021, Dustin poirier rules out putting an end to the rivalry with the Irishman. After the tragic outcome in the main fight of the UFC 264, which ended with a serious injury to the 'Notório', the 'Diamante' guarantees that the opponent's offenses in promoting the confrontation were not left behind. At the post-event press conference, the athlete spoke about the subject.

“We will fight again, whether in the octagon or on the street. You don't say what he said. He said he was going to kill me, you don't say that. You also don't talk about other people's wives. (…) There is a chance that someone will die and I don’t wish that on anyone”, he revealed.
Moments before, also at the press conference, the president of Ultimate, Dana White, stated that a fourth duel between the athletes is a possibility. At the time, the agent said that, in his view, the duel was not over.
In the fight, Poirier and McGregor had a first round marked by aggression. The Irishman started better, but, as the duel progressed, he ended up falling victim to the North American's precise and powerful attacks. The tragic ending happened in the final seconds of the stage, when the 'Notório' threw a direct shot, but ended up fracturing his ankle. Afterwards, the referee chose to end the duel.
With the victory, Poirier guaranteed superiority over McGregor. With the rivalry starting in 2014, 'Diamante' now has two positive results and one defeat, which occurred in the first clash.
