After the fight against alistair overeem at Dream 6, which ended with a No Contest due to an illegal kick, Croatian Mirko Cro Cop showed his irritation, in an interview with the MMA Mania website, against the Dutchman and promised revenge. According to Mirko, the new fight should take place at the New Year's event.
“I accept what happened at DREAM 6. Disqualification or victory would have meant nothing. I don't need this victory. But next time he better not hit me near my genitals. If he tries again, I'll pay him back in kind. And I will do it deliberately, without any hesitation. Mixed martial arts is a brutal sport, but there are some rules that must be respected. I have respected them throughout my career, as have my opponents. I'm not going to cry over spilled milk. I will have my revenge, the DREAM tournament on December 31st against Overeem”
