Sean O'Malley shows respect for his opponent ahead of UFC 264: 'He's a nobody'

On the eve of facing debutant Kris Moutinho, 'Sugar' didn't want anything to do with arrogance and praised next Saturday's opponent (10)

Ready to face the newcomer Kris moutinho No. UFC 264 next Saturday (10), Sean O'Malley didn't want anything to do with arrogance. The bantamweight (up to 61,2kg) exuded confidence in achieving a knockout but made a point of showing respect for his opponent. The statement was given in the 'half day' of the show.

“Many people think that I only have what to lose with this fight. I make a lot of money to go out there and knock this guy out. He's tough. I watched one of his fights this morning and realized he's not a 'nobody'. Well, no one really knows who he is. So if Kris goes in there and shocks the world, it's going to be a big night for him,” O'Malley said.

With his confidence high, 'Sugar' stated that the newcomer will not be the same fighter after measuring up against him in the Octagon.

“I don’t just knock people out. I change their career. Mentally, the way I knock these guys out, they come out different than the way they entered the octagon. So, it could be the beginning of Kris' career or the end of it. Let’s see”, concluded the bantamweight.

Considered one of the biggest promises in the bantamweight division, O'Malley is looking for a new sequence of triumphs to reach the top-15 in the category. After suffering his first career defeat in August 2020 to Marlon Vera, 'Sugar' recovered with a knockout over Thomas almeida in March of this year. The fighter has a record of 13 wins and one setback in MMA.
