Average weight (up to 83,9kg.) Robert whittaker once again broke away from his calm character to provoke the current champion of the division, Israel adesanya. Both fighters have spiced up their rivalry even more after the Nigerian beat him in 2019 and, now, the Australian has made strong statements about his possible next opponent.

Asked about the subject in an interview with 'The Howie Games', Whittaker recalled the defeat to Adesanya in his hometown, points out mistakes and reveals that the champion's provocations hurt him in the first fight.

“Let’s not talk too much about Israel adesanya, because I think he's a piece of shit. He's just a shitty person and an idiot. I don't like him and he doesn't like me either. Two cats from two different paths don’t get along”, said Whittaker.

Champion of the division between 2017 and 2019, Whittaker admitted that Adesanya's 'trash talk' – which provoked him on social media throughout the promotion – had an influence on his performance. At the time, he ended up being knocked out in the second round and lost the belt.

“It affected me, because I was very emotional in the last fight. I wasn't in a good moment in my career or for the sport. I got a little emotional, because I didn't like him and because of everything that was happening. I lost my cool. I didn't fight like I normally do. Congratulations to him, who entered my mind. But I think he’s an idiot”, concluded the Australian.

Current number one in the middleweight rankings, Robert is looking to regain the middleweight belt. The fighter has an MMA record of 23 wins and five losses. In his last fight, 'The Reaper', as is known, defeated Kelvin Gastelum in an excellent performance in the main duel of the UFC Las Vegas 24.
