Dustin Poirier shows confidence and points out a key factor in dethroning Conor McGregor at UFC 264

The North American, who faces the Irish at UFC 264, says his mentality will help him win the duel

Dustin poirier is confident for the third part of the rivalry against Conor McGregor, which happens in the UFC 264, on July 10th. In the final stretch of his preparation for the fight, the North American revealed that he is not afraid of the pre-fight tension and highlights his progress towards beating the Irishman for the second time. The winner of the clash must qualify for a title fight against the lightweight champion (up to 70,3 kg.), Charles of the Bronx.

“The good thing is if it's 'crazy' Conor (McGregor) again, I just don't give a fuck. I don't really care and in the last (fight) too, if he had gone crazy, I would have been fine. Mentally, I'm not a child anymore. I'm a grown man and I know what matters and what I can control. I just don't mentally attack myself like I used to do with critics. I think it's going to be crazy,” said Poirier in an interview with 'ESPN' North-American.

Dustin also took the opportunity to provoke Conor and remember the second fight between the two, which took place at UFC 257. He says he put the Irishman in 'airplane mode' to remember his knockout victory

“I wouldn’t say funny, but it is – how crazy can you be? You got knocked out last time. I put you on airplane mode in front of the world in Abu Dhabi. What can you say?”, concluded the American.

The first fight between Conor and Dustin took place over six years ago. On that occasion, the Irishman got the upper hand, knocking out the North American less than two minutes into the fight. In 2021, the advantage went to Dustin, who shocked the world by delivering the first knockout suffered by the Irishman in his successful career.
