With the injury to Alexander Gustafson UFC Sweden 2, an event that takes place next Saturday (06), was left without a protagonist in the main fight of the show to face Gegard Mousasi. The organization opted for a homemade solution and called up the unknown Swede Ilir Latifi. But, according to Mousasi, Vitor belfort offered to face him.
"Vitor belfort He introduced himself and there were talks with my managers, as he would accept the fight even with such short notice. I would do this fight calmly”, said Mousasi, in an interview with the North American website MMA Junkie.
The former Strikeforce champion also commented on the lie of Wanderlei Silva on twitter. On April 1st, the Brazilian said he would be Gustafsson's replacement. But the next day he denied the joke. The fact deeply irritated Mousasi.
“Wanderlei kept saying he wanted the fight. If I had done that, he wouldn't have liked it either. I was in a situation where no one told me anything, and this idiot kept saying that for three days, as if it were an April Fool's joke. It wasn’t funny, but what can I do,” he said.
“Personally, I wouldn't have any interest in this fight, but if the UFC wanted it to happen, it would happen. Now, my fight is against Latifi. He made himself available through the Swedish media, and ended up being the only guy available for the fight. At first I was a little hesitant, because it's a risky fight. I have nothing to gain, and everything to lose. But at least I'll be fighting” concluded Mousasi.
