Last Friday morning (25), Bellator announced the return of Fedor Emelianenko to the organization's cage. In a press conference given by President Scott Coker, with the presence of the Russian legend, it was revealed that Fedor will fight again on October 23rd, in an event based in Moscow, Russia. The announcement excited not only MMA fans, but also some fighters who showed interest in the fight.

Shortly after Bellator 261, held on Friday night (25), Scott Coker revealed some of the candidates to face Fedor Emelianenko on the night of October 23rd. Among them, big names like alistair overeem, Josh Barnett and even Brazilian Junior Gypsy.
“Believe me, there is no shortage of opponents for Russia to fight at the moment. The managers of every free fighter on the market are calling me. Josh Barnett texted me today. I spoke to the Cigano representative a few days ago. alistair overeem is also a possibility. And the list goes on,” revealed Coker.
Junior “Cigano” dos Santos was released by the UFC in March this year after consecutive technical knockout defeats against Francis Ngannou, Curtis blaydes, Jairzinho Rozenstruik e Cyryl Gane. The former Ultimate champion has not yet signed with any other organization and is free on the market.
Josh Barnett, in turn, has a contract with Bellator. However, the 43-year-old American hasn't fought since September 2016, when he submitted fellow veteran Andrei Arlovski by UFC. In December of that year, Barnett ended up being caught in a drug test for the fourth time in his career.
Yes, alistair overeem he was released from the UFC on the same day as Cigano. Recently, the Dutchman revealed that he had signed with GLORY Kickboxing. It is not known, however, if the contract is exclusive or if he can work in MMA for another organization. It is worth remembering that GLORY and Bellator have held joint events in the past.
Fedor Emelianenko returns to the Bellator cage on October 23, at the VTB Arena, in Moscow, Russia. It will be the organization's first event on Russian territory. More information, such as Fedor's opponent and the rest of the fights on the card should be released in the coming months.
