'Ilha da Luta' was created by Ultimate in 2020 as a solution to continue its events amid the Covid-19 pandemic, as the United States faced harsh restriction measures. Since then, twelve shows have been held in Abu Dhabi. The last one was in January of this year, in UFC 257, which hosted the second duel between Dustin poirier e Conor McGregor.
