“We always believed that this business would be big globally, that we could create talent from all over the world. You know what makes sense? Africa is coming, I'm going to build a 'PI' (Performance Institute) there and we are preparing an event for 2022”, said Dana.
With the creation of the Institute and the holding of a card on the African continent, the president stated that he intends to reveal new local talents.
“Anytime you find a place where people grow in difficult times, you will find incredible talent, not just fighters, but athletes of all types. The question is what resources they have to create and learn and things like that. I'm going to build a 'PI' there, and I'm going to tell you, you're going to see some bad guys leaving Africa in the next five or six years”, concluded the 'boss'.
The Performance Institute is a facility managed by the UFC that offers a high-level structure for training and rehabilitation for its fighters. Ultimate currently has a 'PI' in Las Vegas and another in China.
The African continent currently has three representatives with the UFC belt. It's them, the Nigerians Israel adesanya (medium) and Kamaru Usman (welterweight) and the Franco-Cameroonian Francis Ngannou (heavy weight).
