Leon Edwards rules out fighting Masvidal and says he will wait for the title fight

Speculating about a possible fight against the last challenger in the division, 'Rocky' was not excited and stated that he will wait for his fight for the belt

Hoping to get his shot at the world title soon, Leon edwards you will wait your turn 'in line'. After being confirmed as the next challenger for Kamaru Usman, after Colby covington, the English fighter refused to face Jorge masvidal and declared that he will wait patiently for his opportunity. The statement was made to the UFC's official YouTube channel.

“I know they're talking about me fighting Masvidal but I've been asking to fight him for two or three years. He said he wouldn't face me even if the UFC wanted to. Now that he just lost the title shot, I don't think I need to do that. I'll wait for my chance to fight for the belt. I worked hard to get here and I will have more time to prepare,” said Edwards.

Although he shows no interest in facing Masvidal, Edwards stated that the UFC could change his mind if a 'good conversation' takes place.

“If they come to me with a good talk and good money, I might think about it. But at the moment, I'm focused on my chance to fight for the world title”, concluded the English fighter.

Current number three in the welterweight rankings (up to 77,1kg), Leon edwards comes packed with nine consecutive victories. His last defeat was in December 2015 to Kamaru Usman, by decision of the judges. The fighter has a record of 19 victories and three setbacks.
