Average weight (up to 83,9 kg.) Marvin vettori says he started to respect Israel adesanya, after the rematch in UFC 263 last Saturday (12), in Glendale, (USA). In an interview with England's BT Sport channel, the Italian also stated that despite the unanimous decision defeat, he believed he had won the match.

“Right after the fight I believed I had won, and then he (Adesanya) said, 'No, you didn't win', but at the end of the day, it's respect. We don't like each other, but it's respect. We shared the octagon for eight rounds (including the two fights between them). At the end of the day, you have to support yourself. I think 50-45 (fight score) was definitely not the right decision, but that's the way it is. After all, I'm 27 years old, I'm going to go back and work and prepare for the next fight,” said Vettori.

The Italian also says he was betting on a victory by knockout or submission, to leave no doubt about the result.

“In 2018 I lost by split decision, this time I wanted to enter to leave no doubt. In the judges' decision, even if he won, there would be a doubt. I had all the weapons to win, but in the end, I didn't do enough”, added Vettori.
