After defending the belt, Adesanya suggests a rematch against 'arch enemy' Robert Whittaker

Winner of the main fight UFC 263, last Saturday (12) in Glendale, Arizona (USA), Israel adesanya has already made it clear who he wants as his next opponent. After the fight, still in the octagon, the Nigerian asked for a new meeting with Robert whittaker in October and even suggested that the event take place in Auckland, New Zealand.

“Well, you know, my arch-nemesis, that other idiot, what's his name? Whittaker. I knocked him out twice. I don't know what the hell is going to happen with this whole COVID thing, but we need to do this in Auckland (New Zealand). We need to run this back on my home turf right now,” Adesanya said.

Dana White accepted the idea and commented that Adesanya had already proposed the fight even before the duel against Marvin vettori.

Adesanya, before this fight happened, two or three days ago, said 'I want to fight again in October'. He hasn't even fought yet and this kid is already talking about his next fight. I love that. Adesanya has become a very tough champion for us. So, yes, let's get him and Whittaker married as soon as possible.” said Dana White.

Whittaker and Adesanya fought in 2019 at UFC 243, in Melbourne (Australia) with the Nigerian triumphing, by knockout in the second round. Since then, the Australian has won three consecutive victories, two in 2020, against Jared Cannonier e Darren till, and one in 2021 against Kelvin Gastelum. With these triumphs, he once again became the main challenger for the title.
