The welterweight (up to 77kg.) of Ultimate, Leon edwards, is excited about the possibility of competing for the division title in his next fight. In a post-UFC 252 last Saturday (12), the North American evaluated his victory against Nate diaz and believes he has qualified for a chance at the belt.

“I think I should be next in line for the title. (…), all these guys make excuses like: 'He doesn't deserve this', but I'm the right man for the title shot. If I don't deserve it, who does? Covington, no. He faced an injured Woodley and does he deserve a title shot? I worked my way back to a nine-game (winning) streak. Who else deserves this?” asks Edwards.
Before that he may have to wait for the duel between Kamaru Usman e Colby covington, which should be made official soon. Leon, however, claims that he deserves to 'jump the queue' for always being ready to face the best and highest ranked welterweights.
“Nobody else is doing what I’m doing. I volunteered to fight everyone: Khamzat Shimaev, Nate diaz e Belal Muhammad |. I'm the only one who says, 'Yes.' Everyone just sits and complains. I'm the one showing up, beating up and fighting these tough guys. I feel like I deserve the next chance, for sure”, concluded the athlete.
Despite having a streak of nine consecutive victories in Ultimate, Leon edwards continues to be ignored by MMA fans as a possible 'problem' for the champion Kamaru Usman. The Englishman spent more than a year out of competition, but is now looking to make up for lost time.
