After a gala performance and a dominant victory over Deiveson Figueiredo, Brandon Moreno was sincere to give his opinion on a possible cause for Brazilians' low performance in the UFC 263. After taking the flyweight title (up to 56,7kg) from Pará in this Saturday's co-main fight, the new champion pointed to the 'God of War's' severe weight cut as a determining factor in his triumph. In a press conference after the show, the Mexican spoke about the subject.

“We have to be honest, he has cut a lot of weight. I think this is unnecessary. This sport is very difficult, because you cut weight to want an advantage in the fight. You want to feel stronger, feel more energy than your opponent. We saw the promotional trailer for the fight Figueiredo was crying after he managed to make weight in the final minutes. I think it's unnecessary, but obviously it's not my decision. It’s his team’s option,” he said.

From the beginning of the first round until the submission that determined the outcome of the confrontation, Moreno was unaware of one of the biggest names in MMA in recent Brazilian history. Acting safely, the Mexican controlled the actions and didn't give 'Daico' a chance to show his aggression in the Octagon.

The day before the duel, Deiveson showed up for the weigh-in visibly downcast. Defending his title, the Brazilian was the last to arrive at the measurement site and had to take off all his clothes to reach the limit established by the organization.

Brandon's victory marked the second negative result in Figueiredo's career – the first by submission. The setback also ended an undefeated streak for Tupiniquim that lasted six matches.
