A standout in the organization, Lima returns to the cage after a failed attempt to win his second belt in the organization. In October 2020, Douglas moved up to middleweight (up to 83,9kg) seeking to win the then vacant title of the division. The athlete, however, ended up being surpassed by the veteran Gegard Mousasi. Now, the combatant returns to his original category and defends his throne.

The last Grand Prix fight took place with the former UFC, Rory McDonald, in October 2019. On that occasion, the Tupiniquim dethroned the Canadian and emerged victorious in the unanimous decision of the judges, taking the belt and the dream prize of US$1 million (around R$5,13 million).

Now, the time has come for the athlete to prove that, in fact, he is absolute in the category. This Friday, to stay at the top, Lima will need to end Amosov's unbeaten run that has already lasted 25 fights.

At Bellator since 2018, Yaroslav has done well throughout his career in the organization. A 27-year-old Ukrainian promise, known for his versatility, the fighter needed six positive results in a row to gain a chance to challenge the champion.

Athletes' history

A professional in MMA since 2006, Lima is heading towards his 41st career fight. The 33-year-old from Goiás currently has 32 wins and eight losses in the sport.

Having been in the sport for almost nine years, Amosov doesn't know what it's like to lose in mixed martial arts. With 25 positive results, the Ukrainian has accumulated nine knockouts, 10 submissions and six clashes in the judges' decision.
