Winning again after more than two years, Ponzinibbio aims to return to the top-15 of the welterweight division

In an interview after UFC Vegas 28, the 'Argentine Gente Boa' showed confidence in his abilities and declared that he hopes to be part of the division's elite again

Victory achieved, time to think about the future. After beating Miguel Baeza in a 'battle' in UFC Las Vegas 28th of last Saturday (5th), Santiago Ponzinibbio Now he is looking to return to the rankings in the welterweight division (up to 77,1kg). The Argentine recalled that until recently he was a member of the top-10 in the category and said that he hopes to return to being part of the elite of the group led by Kamaru Usman.

“I won eight of my nine fights. I want to do a good job and get back to the top-10. I was once number six in the world, I hope to be ranked again, face tough fighters and reach the top of the division”, declared Ponzinibbio in an interview after the show.

The Argentine said that when he was offered the fight against Miguel Baeza, he was told that no one wanted to face him. Ponzinibbio declared that he believed in his abilities and that was why he accepted the fight.

“I know my potential, I know I can be world champion. When they offered me the fight (against Miguel Baeza), they said there was a fighter that no one wanted to face. He is a young and very tough athlete. I said I would fight him and beat him”, concluded the Argentine.

With the victory over Baeza, Ponzinibbio returns to the win column after more than two years. His last triumph was in November 2018 against Neil Magny. The 'Argentino Gente Boa' now has a record of 28 triumphs and four setbacks.
