Joanna Jedrzejczyk says Carla Esparza doesn't deserve to fight for the strawweight belt and plans a return to the UFC

Former champion of the division, the Polish woman has placed herself as one of the candidates to be Namajunas' next challenger and is already aiming to return to the octagon after 15 months

With Carla esparza asking to be the next challenger for the strawweight belt (up to 52,1kg), Joanna Jedrzejczyk showed that it has other plans for the division. The Polish player believes that she or Wheilli Zhang should be the next opponent of Rose namajunas and is already planning his return to the octagon after 15 months of absence. The statement was given in an interview with 'The Schmo'.

“That's what she thinks. Carla has a few wins in a row, but I think the next challenger should be me or Weili Zhang. That’s just what I think,” Joanna declared.

Having not stepped foot in the Ultimate Octagon for more than a year, Jedrzejczyk said she is eager to fight again. The Polish fighter declared that the return of fans to the arenas was the extra 'fuel' that was needed to encourage her return to the UFC.

“I can't wait to get back to the octagon and do a great performance for you (the public) because there is no sport without fans. One of the points to get me back to the Octagon was that I want my fans to come back to the arenas and that's finally happening because I don't see myself fighting without them. They give me extra energy and we are in this business together”, concluded the Polish woman.

Former strawweight champion, Joanna Jedrzejczyk He is not in a good phase in his career. Since she was dethroned by Rose namajunas in November 2017, the Pole won just two of her last six fights. Her last fight was in March 2020, when she was defeated by Chinese Weilli Zhang in a split decision by the judges. The duel was considered one of the best fights of the last year in world MMA.
