The world of MMA was impacted by a severe fracture last weekend. Niko Samsonidse suffered a serious injury in a fight against Mohammed Trabelsi during the National Fighting Championship (NFC) 3, played in Germany. The athlete broke his left shin after throwing a low kick at his rival. Then he tried to support himself on the ground before realizing what had happened.

After his opponent fell, Trabelsi still went up. However, upon noticing the injury, he insisted on supporting and being there to see the situation. In the fight, it was only the second kick from the second leg that Samsonidse threw in the round.
The fight was even valid for the vacant featherweight belt (up to 65,7kg). With the injury, Niko Samsonidse was taken to the hospital for surgery on site. In his record, there are nine wins and two defeats in his career. On the other hand, Mohammed Trabelsi expanded his record to 11 positive results and five negative results.
The case is similar to what happened with the former Ultimate champion, Chris Weidman, who broke his leg after having his shot blocked by Uriah Hall. The duel took place in UFC 261, in April 2020.
