“Finally, I arrived home, surrounded by those I love. I would like to say that I went there and fought with all my heart. I left it all there and I'm glad I entertained most of you. I'm happy and sad, as you can imagine, because I didn't achieve my goal, but I went there and fought. Therefore, I can say that I am proud”, wrote the athlete on his Instagram account.

Faced with the third negative result in a row, something unprecedented in the young athlete's career, Reyes suggests that misfortunes are part of the sport. Showing sportsmanship, the fighter then took the opportunity to value Jiri's talent and ensured that he remained firm in the sport.

“I love this sport and, at times, it doesn't seem to love me back, but that's what we got when we signed the contract. I would like to say that I am fine and recovering. Congratulations (to Prochazka) for a great fight, and what an elbow! It was one of those that you don't see coming to you. God bless you all and I’ll see you next time”, he concluded.

Although he was defeated by great opponents in the last three matches, the new positive result confirms Reyes' difficult phase in the organization. The fighter arrived undefeated in Ultimate and, in February 2020, he became one of the athletes who came closest to beating the legendary Jon Jones.

Then, in September, after 'Bones' decided to officially leave the division, Dominick was scheduled to compete for the vacant belt. Before Jan Blachowicz, the North American suffered a new defeat, this time, brutally.

At 31 years old, Ryes now has 15 appearances as a professional in MMA. The fighter today has 12 victories and three defeats. His last triumph came in 2019, when he knocked out Chris Weidman in the first round.
