The premiere of Rory McDonald in the Professional Fighters League (PFL) couldn't have been more exciting. Without giving Curtis Millender a chance, the Canadian submitted his opponent just over three minutes into the first round. The duel was valid for the 2021 welterweight season tournament (up to 77,1k). The show took place in Atlantic City, New Jersey (USA).

THE FIGHT

The main fight began with the two athletes studying each other and with little effectiveness. In the second half of the first round, Rory McDonald put Curtis Millender down and went for the back. The North American tried to free himself but the 'Red King' worked calmly in the transitions trying to get a submission. The North American couldn't resist Rory's ground game and the Canadian secured the rear naked choke. Millender only had time to give the 'three taps' and the fight was over.

In his PFL debut, Rory showed why he is one of the main candidates for the 2021 light heavyweight (under 77,1kg) season title. After becoming champion in Bellator, the Canadian is going all out in search of another belt in his career. He now has a record of 22 wins and seven losses.

In turn, Curtis Millender, who replaced David Michaud (Rory's original opponent), was easy prey for his first opponent of the season. The North American will now have one more fight to try to qualify for the knockout stage. 'Curtious' now boasts a record of 18 wins and seven losses.
