Gastelum says the winner of the duel against Whittaker should face Adesanya

One of the protagonists of the main fight of the UFC Las Vegas 24 against Robert whittaker, Kelvin Gastelum already projects a possible title fight next. The North American highlighted the importance of the duel against the former middleweight champion (up to 83,9kg) and stated that the winner of the clash should get the chance to challenge the group leader Israel adesanya. The statement was given in the 'half day‘ of the event.

“I think the winner of this fight deserves a rematch with Adesanya. Two fighters who are entering their prime. Whittaker is highly skilled and I believe I can match or be even better. It will be a very good fight. Our styles match very well and it will be a very exciting duel. If I win, I will have the chance to fight for the title next,” said Gastelum.

If Kelvin's wish comes true, the American will have the opportunity to share the octagon with Adesanya for the second time. In March 2019, Gastelum was defeated by the Nigerian in a duel valid for the interim middleweight belt. Despite being defeated, the duel marked one of the best performances of that season.

With a record of 17 wins and six losses, Kelvin Gastelum is currently number eight in the category ranking. After three consecutive setbacks, Rafael Cordeiro's pupil recovered after winning Ian Heinisch No. UFC 258, in February of this year.
