"Hard work pays off. I'm ready and happy. September 4th, UFC light heavyweight champion.”, Glover wrote.
This will be the second chance to Glover Teixeira win the light heavyweight belt. In 2014, the Minas Gerais native was defeated by the then champion Jon Jones. The 41-year-old fighter has won five consecutive victories. In his last fight, the Brazilian submitted Thiago Marreta in a fight held in November 2020.
Another MMA veteran, Jan Blachowicz will be making his second defense of the light heavyweight title. After knocking out Dominick reyes in September 2020, the Pole retained his belt by winning Israel adesanya by points, in March of this year. In a great phase of his career, the European fighter suffered just one defeat in his last ten fights.
