In the confrontation against nina nunes, held this Saturday (10), at UFC Las Vegas 23, the jiu-jitsu legend took no notice of his opponent and used his greatest weapon to win. With the result, Dern will make an important leap in the category led by Weili Zhang. Before, in 11th position, the athlete must take the place of Nunes, who was in fifth. Thus, the Brazilian puts herself in a prominent position for a future title fight.

The fight
The confrontation began with Mackenzie closing the distance with a series of punches. The Brazilian went into a grappling fight afterwards and started to press Nina against the bars. The American managed to free herself, but Dern grabbed herself again and took down her opponent. On top, Mackenzie started looking for transitions and Nunes defended herself as best she could. With an advantage, Dern continued to fight and got the mount. The Brazilian started to work ground-and-pound and took advantage of an oversight to reach for the North American's arm. Nina was pushing hard, but Dern managed to lock in the submission, forcing Nunes to tap out.

In the co-main fight of the show, a confrontation took away the unbeaten record of a featherweight (up to 65,7kg) in the UFC. In direct confrontation to move to the top of the category led by Alexander Volkanovsky, best for arnold allen. In a confrontation marked by technique, the athlete overcame Sodiq Yusuf, winning with a unanimous decision from the judges.
The triumph over the American marked Allen's eighth consecutive victory in Ultimate. Currently number 10 in the rankings, the athlete will now pursue his dream of a future title fight.
In his fifth fight with UFC gloves, Sodiq suffered his first defeat in the organization. The fighter, who had four positive results in a row, is now postponing his dream of reaching the top 10 in the category.
Mike Perry is 'beaten' and gets complicated in Ultimate

Back in the octagon after five months, Mike Perry got really complicated in Ultimate. In the confrontation against Daniel Rodriguez, valid for the welterweight division (up to 77kg), the North American had tense moments in the show. Victim of his rival's greater reach in the clash, the athlete showed strength, but was severely punished for 15 minutes and lost in a unanimous decision by the judges.
With the setback, Mike reached his seventh negative result in the last 10 fights. The combatant's situation, which was no longer easy, became even more complicated. Perry has not won a match since June 2020.
After promoting a safe performance, Rodriguez recovered from the defeat he suffered against Nicholas Dalby, in November of last season. The athlete now has four victories in five challenges in Ultimate.

In the third fight of the main card, Julian Marquez showed its superiority over Sam alvey. In a duel valid for middleweight (up to 83,9kg), Marquez complicated his rival's situation in the UFC. 'Erasing' his opponent in the second round, the 'Smiling Man' had no chance of defending himself.
With the triumph, Julian, who returned to the octagon in February, after more than two years away from the sport, Marquez reached his second positive result in a row. In his last commitment, the fighter won Maki Pitolo, UFC 258.
The defeat in UFC Las Vegas 23 complicated Alvey's situation in the organization. The athlete now has five defeats in the last six appearances, one of which was a draw, in October 2020. With the new setback, the athlete could be included on the company's dreaded layoff list.
