“A few days later, (oxygen) levels were still low and I was coughing even more. That's when I saw that there was a lot of blood in my saliva. I decided to send the photos to my doctor and he said: 'look man, we're going to have to do other tests on you'”, continued Volkanovski.

Even though he was released from the hospital, Volkanovski stated that he has not yet returned to training, as he is not yet 100% recovered. The fighter stated that he was released for light training, without much physical effort, but that he preferred to wait a little longer to avoid serious consequences.

“Obviously, I haven't trained in the last few weeks, but now that I'm better, (the UFC doctor told me) I can start training lightly. I wish I could go back, but I prefer to wait, I need to take it easy. Obviously, recovery is very important. I'm going to have a few weeks of rest, where I need to calm down and recover. I don't want to have problems like cody garbrandt and Khamzat (Chimaev) had”, concluded Alex.

Current featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg) Alexander Volkanovsky has a record of 22 wins and one loss. Still undefeated in Ultimate, the Australian is looking for a recovery to once again command the category. In his last fight he won Max Holloway, by points, in UFC 251, in July 2020.
