McGregor celebrates eight years in the UFC, narrates his debut, and promises to return to his origins in a trilogy with Poirier

Exactly on this day, in 2013, MMA fans were able to witness the beginning of one of the most brilliant careers in the history of Ultimate. On your social networks, Conor McGregor made a point of celebrating eight years of UFC. With ups and downs, the Irishman narrated his debut and promised to return to his roots in the trilogy against Dustin poirier, which takes place on July 10th.

Moved by the celebration, the Irishman made a point of narrating the step by step of his debut. On that occasion, the 'Notório' was selected to face Marcus Brimage. If the first impression is what it is, the fighter did well and ran over his opponent less than two minutes into the fight.

“I found out it was going to be released nine weeks in advance. I took a week to straighten myself out from not training and partying, and for the next eight weeks I moved into my sister's apartment, which was close to the gym. I would wake up, train, walk home, eat and rest. Then I would train again, return home, sleep and repeat. (…) I had no rest days, not even Sundays,” she declared.

Eight years have passed and McGregor, in fact, made history in the organization. With the status of the highest paid athlete in MMA, the fighter, throughout his career in the UFC, became a double champion, accumulated controversies, but carved his name in gold at the event.

In an unstable phase, 'Notório' is now preparing for the long-awaited trilogy against Dustin poirier. With the dispute tied at two to two, the Irishman guarantees that he will recover from the tough defeat he suffered against the North American, in January 2021. To do so, the fighter will need to show reflections of the athlete who enchanted fans of the sport.

“I will use this approach (of training incessantly) for my comeback clash. I didn’t become a double UFC champion with this method, but I was featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg) like this”, he concluded.

With the Ultimate gloves, McGregor, to date, has competed in 13 fights. With a positive balance, the Irishman today has 10 triumphs and three setbacks.

At 32 years old, Conor recently confirmed a rematch with Poirier for July 10th. Athletes will lead the UFC 264 and, in addition to breaking the tie, the winner will be able to guarantee the chance to challenge the new lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg), who will be crowned after the fight between Charles of the Bronx e Michael chandler.
