Dana White confirms: If he beats Mousasi, Gustafsson will fight for the title

During a press conference in London, UFC president set the condition for the Swede to fight for the light heavyweight belt

Ultimate's president, Dana White, confirmed this Wednesday (13), during a press conference in London, that the Swede Alexander Gustafson He will compete for the light heavyweight belt if he wins his next fight. Gustafsson will face Gegard Mousasi on April 6, in the main event of UFC Sweden 2 – also known as UFC on Fuel TV 9.

Before talking about the Swede, White commented on the debut of his opponent, the Armenian Gegard Mousasi, former DREAM and Strikeforce champion, in the organization. “If Mousasi beats Gustafsson, he will take off to the top positions in the division,” he commented. Afterwards, the UFC president spoke about the scenario of a possible victory for the home athlete. “What about Gustafsson. If he beats Mousasi in this fight, he will be in line for a title shot,” he said.

Gegard Mousasi has an impressive record of 20 wins, one defeat and one draw in the last seven years. In his last fight, in the final Strikeforce event, the Armenian submitted Mike Kyle in the first round. Looking at the numbers, Alexander Gustafson has a record as impressive as his opponent's: with 15 wins and just one defeat, Phil Davis in 2010, in his six-year career. The Swede has won six consecutive victories, the last of which was over Brazilian Maurício “Shogun” Rua.
