After four years of retirement, Miesha Tate decided to resume his career and return to the UFC. With the surprising news of her return, the former bantamweight champion (up to 61,2kg) explained the reasons that led her to make the decision to hang up her gloves in 2016. The statement was given in an interview with 'ESPN' American.

“I just wasn't able to get involved in the fight the way I wanted to. This was very depressing. I was tired mentally and emotionally. I needed to take some time away from everything, separate myself from all the things that were messing with my head. So I did it”, declared Miesha.
THE 'Cupcake' talked about the mental strain that high-level sport brings to athletes. Tate stated that she was very worn out emotionally, and that she was not at her best in her last professional fight, against Rachel Pennington.
“You have to give all for this sport. The fighter has to give as much as he can. But when you're too worn out mentally and emotionally, there comes a point where you just aren't 100%. That’s how I felt when I fought Raquel (Pennington)”, concluded Tate.
In her first fight after returning to the octagon, Miesha will face Marion Reneau, in a duel confirmed for July 17th. If the North American wins, the 34-year-old athlete could enter the ranking of the category that was once leader.
With a record of 18 wins and seven losses, Tate stated that she seeks to be champion of the bantamweight division again. In March 2016, the 'Cupcake' won Holly holm and won the category belt. His last fight was a defeat against Rachel Pennington, in November of the same year.
