Sean O'Malley praises Thominhas and admits that the last blow was unnecessary

After winning by knockout, 'Sugar' praised his opponent and assumed that he could have avoided the definitive punch, with the Brazilian already down

With the knockout over Thomas almeida, UFC 260, last Saturday (27), Sean O'Malley found his way back to winning ways. At the press conference after the Show, the North American praised the Brazilian's determination and admitted that the last blow, with his opponent already down, was unnecessary. The bantamweight bet (up to 61,2kg.) beat the São Paulo native with a brutal knockout in the third round.

“Thomas is tough, legitimate. The knockout was nice, but the last blow was unnecessary. I looked into his eyes and he 'wasn't there'. I'm my number one fan and I think that's why I improve so much. Record each round training and I watch”, said the 'Sugar'.

With a provocative style and undeniable technical quality, O'Malley is now ready to resume his trajectory towards the top of the division led by aljamain sterling. Seeking the division's elite, the fighter spoke about his attendance plan for the season.

“I want to fight before the end of the year. I don't know when, or against whom. I just want to train and improve. This is my priority”, concluded the young man.

Promise of the category, O'Malley even appeared in the ranking. The defeat for Marlon Vera, in August 2020, however, made him leave the list.

Hired by the UFC in 2017, after his participation in the reality show 'Contender Series', the 26-year-old fighter has a record of 13 triumphs and just one setback.
